Altair launches Inspire Studio 2020!

Altair has recently released the 2020 edition of their all-in-one industrial design solution Altair Inspire Studio.

Key Features of Altair Inspire Studio 2020

Inspire Studio is the solution for innovative designers, architects, and digital artists to create, evaluate and visualize designs faster than ever before. With unrivaled flexibility and precision, its unique construction history feature combined with multiple modeling techniques empowers users throughout the creative process. Key features of the 2020 release of Altair Inspire Studio are:

Technical Drawings!
It is now possible to make linked 2D drawings on scale with dimensions and annotations. You can also create cross sections and details. In short:

  • Multiple drawings in one file
  • Multiple views on one sheet
  • Multiple models in one view
  • Section Views
  • Detail Views
  • Add dimensions
  • Place Annotations
  • Print, export as DWG or PDF

Rounded Polyline
It's back! It is now possible to round the corners of a polyline. Completely parametric and changeable afterwards.

3D Line
The new 3D line can be free in 3D space, tangent to a source curve, perpendicular to a source curve, normal to the plane in which a source curve lies, fixed to a source curve at one end, or combined with a source curve. The source curve can be an individual curve or the edge of a surface.

Face Round tool
Rounding geometry is no longer limited to solids. With this new tool any transition between surfaces can be rounded. For example, you can easily design thin-walled objects with smooth transitions.

New Features: Die Design (Windows Only!)
Via the new User Profile you have access to the tools:

  • Part Tools
First define the part and then adjust the draw direction to create a draw die.
  • Binder Tools
Define one or more binders for the draw die. You can either assign an existing surface as a binder or create a flat from a new surface.
  • Addendum Tool
Create one or more surfaces that extend from the part to the binder, to aid in stretching and forming.
  • Die Tool
Trim the binder and add a round to finalize the draw die. Create a matching die using Offset

Object Lists are back!

  • See at a glance which objects are used in an operation;
  • Useful for e.g. curves in a surface, or objects in a boolean operation;
  • Remove, add, replace or change the order of objects.

Design Table
Catch parameters of an operation in a table and rename them for easy adjustment afterwards.

For example, if you design a cabinet, you can quickly create a table for the width, height, plinth height, number of shelves and plank thickness. You then no longer have to look for the individual parameters of, for example, the depth of a cut-out or the height of a block.

Morphing
You can now record PolyNURB deformations on vertices, edges and faces and later adjust them from 0% to 100%, making Altair Inspire Studio a superb design exploration tool.

Updated Photo Render using Thea 3.0

      Added option for both Fast and Accurate Real-time rendering;
Added nVidia Optix & Intel Denoiser option for Interactive Rendering ensure super crisp images every time.

New Fit & Simplify PolyNURBS tool
Work with scan meshes and turn them into NURBS geometry to model further on the geometry.

Export to Exchange
Work in a common file folder used to exchange data with other Altair products. For example, you can export a die design from Inspire Studio to Inspire Form to perform a stamping simulation. You can access this option from the right-click menu or the File menu.

Export to Exchange

Added Python scripting
If you can program in this easy to use and popular scripting language, now you can add your own tools and workflows to Altair Inspire Studio.

Added Python scripting

And more…

  • Added support for macOS 11 (Big Sur)
  • Freshed up Interface
  • New Rebuild Curve & Surface tools
  • Drag & Drop in Model Browser
  • Drag & Drop files
  • Several enhancements to the Sketching Module
  • More robust Construction History
  • Support for Trimeshes
  • Convert from PolyNURBS to trimesh or vice versa using the right-click menu
  • Various bug fixes and improvements

Happy Modeling!
