With the release of Artlantis 4.1, a few new functions have been added to the application. New functions do always bring some questions along. Here you will find an overview of the frequently asked questions about Artlantis 4.1.

Can I also update QuickTime on Windows now, when I update to Artlantis 4.1?
Unfortunately, not yet. Until further notice, please use version 7.71 on your machine.

Can I turn off the backrground in the HDRI, so I only have the reflection / lights? It would be a nice feature for standalone rendering.
Unfortunately, Artlantis can't do this. However, if you export your file to Photoshop, you can remove this layer.

Why should I use the sun, if I get my lighting information from the HDRI?
An HDRI can't produce hard shadows, that's why you should use the sun as well. This will provide the shadows.

If I make a render in Maxwell, an MXS file appears. What can I do with this file?
This file contains Maxwell render information. You can open this file in Maxwell Studio, but you can also throw it away if you don't have access to Maxwell Studio and your rendering is done.

If I make a render in Maxwell, some strange lines appear. Why is that?
This happens in the trial version of the Maxwell Engine. In the trial version, Maxwell's logo will be placed as a watermark on your render. When you render an image in a small resolution, you will only see a part of this logo. If you render the same image in a large resolution, the watermark will be placed on your image in it's full format.
