Phase 2 3D Printing Contest launched

Materialise has organized a special 3D Printing Contest in cooperation with a few partners, including SketchUp Pro. The schools could submit their ideas for more fascinating classes. The winners received a complete 3D Printing Package for use during classes:

  • A school license SketchUp Pro for working out their ideas in 3D
  • A 3D Printer for the school
  • A 3D Printing workshop for the whole class, of course with SketchUp Pro, to realize their ideas
  • A professional 3D Print of the idea by Materialise

The first phase of the contest was a great success and Materialise, SketchUp Pro and the other organizers are very satisfied with the 308 ideas by the 74 participating schools and the 10.109 sympathizers who voted 44.134 times on their favorite ideas together. All teachers and students were very enthusiastic about the initiative and of course about the prizes.

Meanwhile, phase 2 of the 3D Printing Contest has been launched.

Phase 2

The second phase of the contest, called 'Makers Challenge' has been launched and runs until May 25, 2015. The goal is to bring the submitted ideas to life, so everyone could download the 3D models of the ideas for use in their class.

This phase of the contest is focused on makers who have knowledge about 3D printing / modeling, want to help others, want to contribute to better education and are looking for a creative project.

The Makers Challenge encourages creators to:

  1. Select an idea at Ideas Worth Making
  2. Create a 3D Model
  3. 3D Print their 3D Model (to ensure that the 3D model is printable)
  4. Upload 3D Model and pictures 3D Print

The winner will be selected by a jury and win a MiiCraft+ DLP Printer.
